The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (ADC) will organise a briefing session on the programming and execution of the Arts and Cultural Web Channel at 6:00 pm on next Tuesday, 31 August 2004 at the ADC Administration Office. Dr Darwin Chen, Chairman of the ADC and Mr Ricky Wong, Chairman of the Hong Kong Broadband Network (HKBN) will attend the briefing.

Launched by the ADC and the HKBN, the Arts and Cultural Web Channel is a platform to promote arts, culture and creative industries by broadcasting a variety of local and international arts and cultural productions. With the aim of enhancing arts appreciation of the general public, it is a one-year pilot project targeted at both domestic and overseas Chinese speaking audiences. The channel is scheduled to be broadcasted in late 2004 or early 2005.

In the project, the ADC will advise on programme contents and commission an executive organisation to implement the project with the HKBN on its behalf. The HKBN will provide broadcasting platform (broadband and pay TV), produce an agreed hours of programmes, and provide free labour and technical support.
