Professional Certificate in Arts Management
November 25, 2004

Starting from this month onwards, famous arts practitioners including Juan Ignacio Vidarte, Director of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and arts administrators from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum New York will come to Hong Kong and share their valuable experiences at a series of lectures offered by the Professional Certificate Course on Arts Management.

Commissioned by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, the six-month professional certificate course is organised by the Arts School of the Hong Kong Art Centre to help local arts practitioners enrich their knowledge on arts administration and broaden their vision. The course covers two parts: Visual Arts Management and Curatorship.

The first talk, given by Lisa Dennison, Deputy Director and Chief Curator of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum New York, has received overwhelming response. Over a hundred people attended. The next lecture, hosted by John Hanhardt, Senior Curator of Film and Media Arts of the Guggenheim Museum New York, will be held next month. Other speakers include Karen Meyerhoff, Managing Director for Exhibition, Collections and Design; Kim Kanatani, Director of Education; Helen Warwick, Director of Membership; Nick Simunovic, Director of Corporate Relations and Min Jung Kim, Director of Strategic Development – Asia. They will speak on exhibition planning, design, education, development and fundraising.

The ADC commissions various organisations to organise arts activities including training, exchange activities, performances, exhibitions, seminars, workshops, research and promotion projects every year. The Professional Certificate Course on Arts Management is one of the ADC commission projects.
