You can now demonstrate your writing talents by participating in the "Write-up Competition for Students".
Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Write-up Competition is one of the fringe activities of the Hong Kong Book Fair 2005, with an aim to enhance students' interests and ability in writing and appreciation of literature.
The activity is co-organised with the Hong Kong Teacher-Librarians' Association, Hong Kong Professional Teachers' Union, Education Convergence, Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers and Chinese Language Society of Hong Kong.
The Competition is categorised into Primary (Primary 4-6), Junior Secondary (Form 1-3) and Senior Secondary (Form 4-7). Students are required to select a book from the recommended booklist or make their own choice for the write-ups. An adjudication panel, comprising representatives of the co-organisers, educationists and renowned writers, will be formed. Assessment will be based on the content, creativity and language expression ability.
Each category has three top prizes (the champion, first and second runner-ups). Each will be awarded with a trophy and a cash prize of $2,000, $1,000 and $500 respectively. Seven outstanding participants will be selected from each category and they will receive a Certificate of Merit and a cash prize of $300 as encouragement. All award winners will be notified by mail in July and invited to join the award presentation ceremony which will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre during the Hong Kong Book Fair 2005.
Interested students are required to submit a completed application form together with their write-up to the ADC Administration Office, 22/F 181 Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong on or before 6:30 pm, 27 May 2005 (Friday). Please mark "Write-up Competition for Students" on the envelope. Submission by post will only be accepted if postmarked no later than the deadline. Late submission or submission by fax or email are not accepted.
Application forms are now available at the ADC Administration Office, or can be downloaded from the ADC website www.hkadc.org.hk. For enquiries, please contact Ms Peggy Wong at 2820 1095.
