The 2nd Fresh Wave Short Film Competition, jointly organized by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (ADC) and The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFF), are inviting eligible candidates to enter the 1st round selection of the Open Division of the Competition.

The Competition, that includes master classes on film directing and scriptwriting offered specially to shortlisted entrants, aims to encourage and foster the professional development of filmmaking among aspiring young people with potentials on filmmaking, with a vision to nurture a new generation of filmmakers.

Shortlisted entrants of the 1st round selection will be invited to produce a feature film from November 2006 to January 2007 that will enter the final competition to be held in the 31st Hong Kong International Film Festival in March/April 2007. The finalists will compete for the "Best Picture" and "Best Creativity" awards and prize presentation will be held in the 31st HKIFF during which all works by the finalists will be screened. Awardees will also have the opportunity to attend the New Talent Camp in the 2008 Berlin Film Festival or other international film festival activities of similar nature.

Application forms and the previous works must be deposited in the collection box located at the address above by 8 September 2006 (Friday). Applications submitted by post will only be accepted if postmarked no later than the deadline.
