To explore the potential cooperation modes between the arts community and other sectors of the society, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council has launched the "Seminars on the New Cooperation Mode between the Arts Community and the Society" in March this year. A series of seminars will be held to foster better communication and forge partnership among the various parties, thereby encouraging the community-wide involvement in the broad development of arts.
The premier seminar "Arts in Commercial Premises" was held on 6 March during which representatives from commercial premises management and arts practitioners shared their experiences on organising arts activities and explored opportunities for future collaboration between the arts and commercial sectors. The seminar was well-received with nearly 200 participants.
The next seminar on "Creative Arts Education", to be held on 27 March (Tue), will centre the discussions on bringing arts into the classroom to enrich the school curriculum. Experienced educators Dr. Victor Lai Ming-hoi (Associate Professor, Creative Arts and Physical Education Department, Hong Kong Institute of Education), Ms. Cheung Lai-chu (Principal, Tai Po Old Market Public School), Brother William Ng Wei-lit (Ma On Shan St. Joseph's Secondary School) , and arts practitioners Mr. Ng Ka-hai, Karley (Artistic Director, Exploration Theatre) as well as Mr. Terence Sin (Senior Education and Development Officer, Chung Ying Theatre Company) will share their invaluable experiences on implementing arts education programmes. The speakers will also exchange their viewpoints on core issues such as curriculum design and arts education training for teachers. Ms. Yau Oi-yuen (Principal, Shatin Pui Ying School) will be the moderator.
