Arts have been widely assimilated into different sectors of the society for promotional and educational purposes in recent years. Works of diverse genres are now displayed in the communities and even on the public vehicles, bringing arts closer to the general public.

To further explore potential cooperation modes between the arts community and other sectors of the society, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council has launched the "Seminars on the New Cooperation Mode between the Arts Community and the Society" since March this year to foster better communication and forge partnership among the various parties. The first two seminars held in March on "Arts in Commercial Premises" and "Creative Arts Education" were well-received with nearly 200 participants in each session.

In the coming seminar on "Arts in the Community" (10 May), representatives from different sectors will discuss the possibilities of promoting arts in public spaces to revive the living environment so as to enrich the quality of life of the general public. Ms. Lam Lit-kwan (Director (Portfolio Management), The Link Management Limited), Ms. Connie Lam (Programme Director, Hong Kong Arts Centre) and Ms. Jessie So (Assistant Curator 1 (Community Art), Art Promotion Office) will share with us their views on these issues. Mr. Benny Chia, Director of Fringe Club will be the moderator for this seminar.

The next seminar on "Travelling with Art" (28 June) will invite representatives from various public transport services providers to share their experience on organising arts activities and discuss how they and arts practitioners can join hands in presenting arts on the vehicles. Speakers are Mrs. Miranda Leung (General Manager - Corporate Relations, MTR Corporation), Ms. Eva Law (Senior Corporate Communications Manager, Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation), Ms. Beatrice Wong (Public Affairs Manager, Citybus Limited/ New World First Bus Services Limited), Ms. Wynne Siu (Assistant Corporate Communications Manager, New World First Ferry Services Limited) and Ms. Noel Ng (Assistant Curator 1 (Public Art), Art Promotion Office). Mr. Ko Tin-lung, Artistic Director of Chung Ying Theatre Company, will be the moderator.
