
The aim of the Fresh Wave Short Film Competition is to encourage and foster the professional development of aspiring young filmmakers with potentials. Through this competition, the organisers hope to identify and assist young filmmakers that has proven experience in film making, with a vision to nurture a new generation of filmmakers.
Content of the Competition:

1st round selection: submit one previous work representative of the candidate's artistic achievement for the 1st round selection

Shortlist Results: the organisers will select approximately 10 candidates to enter into the final Competition

Film Production: selected candidates have to attend activities provided by the organisers and produce the films for the final Competition

Final Competition: films produced for the Competition must be submitted to HKIFFS for adjudication on or before 20 February 2009

Screening: films produced for the Competition may have the opportunity to be screened in the 33rd HKIFF. Awardees may be arranged to participate in activities organised by overseas film festivals/independent film festivals.
Eligibility for 1st Round Selection:
- Hong Kong resident
- Under age of 35
- Education qualifications not a requisite
- Possessed experience in commercial/independent film production involving in areas of film direction, scriptwriting or cinematography
