Hong Kong Arts Development Council Supports the Budget to Organise the 2nd Edition of HKPAX

The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) welcomes and supports the Government’s commitment to organise the second edition of Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo (HKPAX/the Expo) next year, transforming the event into a flagship of Hong Kong’s arts and cultural industries as stated in the 2025/26 Budget announced by Financial Secretary today (26 February).

Mr Kenneth Fok, Chairman of HKADC, said: “We are grateful for the Government’s support and affirmation of the inaugural HKPAX and its decision to host the second edition next year. As a global flagship platform for performing arts, the Expo facilitates arts and cultural exchange and connection among Hong Kong, the Mainland and the rest of the world. As the Government attaches great importance to the development of the arts, cultural and creative industries, HKADC will fully support the Government's future development directives, joining hands with the arts and cultural sector to promote Hong Kong as an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange."

Sponsored by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, the inaugural Expo was held in October 2024, attracting over 1,600 arts leaders and practitioners from more than 60 regions to participate. The Expo succeeded in providing a foremost platform for global arts practitioners to explore, experience and exchange, facilitating international arts and cultural exchange, fostering the collaboration between Hong Kong and the globe, further strengthening Hong Kong’s role in the international arts arena. With over 150 performances, talks and activities featured in the five-day Expo, the total number of audience and participants surpassed 32,000, achieving an 80% attendance rate.

In future, HKADC will continue to groom local arts groups and practitioners for professional development, facilitate exchanges and ties between local and international counterparts so as to promote the development of arts, culture and creative industries.
